Looking Ahead:
SIUSLAW WATERSHED EXPLORATION CAMPS Youth participants reported having fun while learning a lot at the camps. Thank you to everyone who volunteered or made donations. OWEB, Western Lane Community Foundation, and individual donors helped to fund the camps. PLANT MAINTENANCE In addition to clearing encroaching plants from around your seedlings, you may need to protect them from grazing by deer, elk, or other animals. Protective tubes and cages are available in limited quantities for native riparian vegetation. Call or email Ginger at SWC office. The project receives funding from the Coast Range Stewardship Fund. August 2011 ● Info about this summer’s projects at www.siuslaw.org/culverts. Siuslaw Watershed Council 541-268-3044 watershed@siuslaw.org PO Box 422 Mapleton, OR 97453 The 2011 Native Plant Distribution ! The SWC has more trees for the Second Round of the Native Plant Distribution. Here is a list of trees that are available.
If you come to the SWC office after hours, please remember to fill out a form to let me know how many and what you take. The forms will hanging outside by the door in a manila envelope. Reminder: Don't forget to flag your trees and shrubs! This will greatly increase the success rate of your plants. If you already signed up, then you will receive a reminder about when and where to pick-up trees. Don’t miss this opportunity to start or continue restoring your lake, streams or river banks. Native trees and shrubs provide shade, nutrients, and habitat to aquatic species. If you are interested in participating please contact Ginger at 541-268-3044 or email to place your request. View a list of what plants are available. We still need preparation and distribution volunteers for all locations.
